Introduction and Objective
The Daulatbhai Trivedi Law College, managed under the Navgujarat banner, successfully organized the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti on October 3, 2025. The event was held to commemorate the 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and to reaffirm the commitment of the institution to the ideals of truth, non-violence, and service to humanity. The objective was to educate the staff and students on the contemporary relevance of Gandhian philosophy, particularly within the legal and judicial framework.
Event Proceedings
- Homage and Garlanding: The Principal, accompanied by Heads of Departments and student representatives, paid floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. The assembly observed a moment of silence to honour his memory and unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
- Keynote Address: The Principal delivered a compelling keynote address, focusing on the core principles of Satyagraha and their application in modern legal practice. The address emphasized the importance of ethical conduct and integrity in the pursuit of justice, urging future legal professionals to uphold the spirit of non-violence and social justice championed by Gandhi.
- Student Activities: Students actively participated in the program, which included:
- Recitation of excerpts from Gandhi’s autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth.
- A short cultural performance featuring patriotic songs and bhajans, including the beloved Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye.
- A student-led session discussing the relevance of Gandhian thought in contemporary constitutional law.
- Pledge: The entire assembly, comprising both staff and students, took a pledge to practice cleanliness (Swachhta Abhiyan) and uphold the values of honesty and communal harmony in their professional and personal lives.
